Spedale's Florist, a Lafayette, Louisiana, institution beloved for its exquisite floral arrangements and unwavering commitment to customer service, is celebrating a momentous occasion: its 40th anniversary! For four decades, this family-owned business has blossomed alongside the community, weaving fragrant memories into countless weddings, holidays, and everyday moments.

The story of Spedale's begins in 1984, fueled by the passions of a loving couple. Patsy Spedale, with her artistic eye and love for flowers, dreamt of creating a space where blossoms spoke the language of joy. Alongside her husband, Tony, whose dedication and business acumen provided the foundation, they planted the seeds of what would become a Lafayette treasure. Sadly, both Patsy and Tony have passed away, but their legacy of love and commitment to flowers continues to bloom under the guidance of their son, Thomas.

Their small storefront overflowed with vibrant blooms, attracting a loyal following drawn to the warmth and quality that Spedale's offered. In 2000, Thomas, a Graduate of University of Louisiana and an MBA graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, joined his parents to guide Spedale's into a new era of growth. He brought with him valuable experience gained from managing retail operations at Dillard Department Stores and Stein Mart, two national department store chains in six states, adding a strategic acumen to the family's business intuition.

He implemented sophisticated business practices and technology, while preserving the heart of the business: the genuine connection with customers and the unwavering commitment to quality instilled by Patsy and Tony. Together, this family trio nurtured a team of talented floral designers who share their passion for creating stunning arrangements that express a multitude of emotions. Whether it's a delicate sympathy bouquet, a vibrant wedding masterpiece, or a simple "just because" arrangement, Spedale's pours its heart into every bloom.

As Spedale's celebrates its 40th anniversary, it's not just about looking back on a successful journey; it's about embracing the future with fresh blooms. Under the guidance of Thomas, the team is excited to continue serving the Lafayette community, and most of Acadiana and beyond, carrying on the legacy that Patsy and Tony began.
